Emberville town rebuilding guide

The town is not a menu you unlock between dungeon runs. It is the reason the dungeon runs matter. Every survivor you bring back rebuilds a piece of Emberville and opens a new part of the game.

The loop in one screen

  1. Descend into the Vitromotus Push into tunnels, ruins, and survivor settlements. Combat and exploration share the run.
  2. Rescue a survivor Free a trapped townsperson from whatever fate the prison has left them in. They return to Emberville.
  3. Rebuild their part of town The survivor restores a home or service and teaches you their trade. The town becomes a living hub.
  4. Spend the unlock on the next descent New crafting, services, and quests feed your character. Town progress and character progress are parallel tracks.

Why survivors matter mechanically

The official description says survivors lend their skills and help rebuild their homes, and that you learn their trades, secrets, and dreams while doing their quests. In system terms, they are unlock nodes with a personality. The town’s crafting and services widen as more people return, which is the game’s answer to “why keep descending?”

  • New crafting recipes and services.
  • New quests and town conversations.
  • Class and trade knowledge, including class unlocks.
  • A visual record of progress: houses, workshops, and decorations return.
  • A reason to explore side paths instead of rushing the main dungeon.

Your estate is the personal layer

Inside Emberville you get a personal estate. You can craft what you need for the dungeon and turn the place into somewhere to relax: buildings, furniture, plants, and decorations. The estate is not just cosmetic storage; it is the part of the town loop you control directly.

What we do not know yet

  • The full survivor roster and their names.
  • Exact building costs, upgrade tiers, and time gates.
  • Whether town upgrades can be respecced or moved.
  • How much of the town is available in the first Early Access build. The studio says Early Access begins with the first major biome and the foundation of the larger game.

Questions from this guide

Can you rebuild Emberville in the demo?

Only in a limited narrative sense. The demo introduces rescued survivors and the idea of the town, but the full rebuild loop is an Early Access system.

Is town building required?

The official pitch treats town progress as one of the main progression tracks alongside combat. It is not a side mini-game; it unlocks crafting, services, and quests.

Can you decorate your estate?

Yes. The official feature list includes buildings, furniture, plants, and decorations for your personal estate inside Emberville.
